A thick disc of acrylic, 13.5cm across, lit from inside the rim. Because the light passes through the whole thickness of the shade before it reaches the wall, the colour of the disc becomes the colour of the light, and the source itself stays out of sight.
Amber is the one most people take. It puts a warm honey cast on a plaster wall, which is flattering at night in a hallway or beside a bed. Clear is closer to plain white light with a little sparkle in the edge. Smoky grey is the quietest of the three and sits back the most against a dark wall.
The surface is either dimpled, which breaks the light into small points, or ribbed, which draws it into vertical lines. Both change with the angle you pass them at, which is the reason to put one somewhere you walk past rather than somewhere you sit still.

Fitting & care

- Keep water away from anything not rated for outdoor use
- Top up rechargeable pieces every few months if they are stored unused
